Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Make a Difference in Community Health AlliedUP Co-op is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to support a mission-driven community health center in Oakland serving a diverse patient population, including individuals experiencing homelessness and patients receiving behavioral health, substance use recovery, HIV, and primary care services. This is a hands-on role for an MA who is compassionate, adaptable, and comfortable working with patients who may have complex medical and social needs. What You'll Do Room patients, obtain vital signs, review health histories, and document in Epic Prepare exam rooms and assist providers during examinations and procedures Administer vaccines and injections as ordered Perform basic point-of-care testing, including A1C, glucose, hemoglobin, pregnancy, urine dipstick, and rapid strep testing Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, ear lavage, and other clinical procedures Provide patient education and discharge instructions Support referrals, prescriptions, and follow-up appointments Assist with patient flow and front-office functions as needed Maintain clean, stocked, and infection-control-compliant clinical areas Participate in community outreach and home visits as needed Collaborate with medical, behavioral health, and social services teams

What We're Looking For Required:

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program At least 1 year of Medical Assistant experience in a community clinic or medical office Epic experience Current CPR/BLS Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, HIV/AIDS, behavioral health conditions, or other complex health and social needs Strong patient service, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work effectively and compassionately with diverse populations Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
