A Medical Assistant assists physicians and other medical specialists with routine administrative or clinical tasks. Organizes patient records, schedules appointments, and prepares medical equipment. May specialize in administrative or clinical work, or specialize in a particular area of medicine, i.e. assisting in the office of an ophthalmologist (eye specialist). Works in medical offices.

Every day, you will take the lead on proactively preparing patient charts, ensuring all information is obtained and up-to-date for those seen in our facility. You can expect to have multiple patients daily depending on the number of physicians are on-site. To be successful in this role you, will bring enthusiasm to help others, work efficiently, and your empathy for our patients. Consistently demonstrates customer service expectations as outlined in the Dignity Health Medical Foundation audit tools. Consistently makes eye contact and smiles. Demonstrates active listening with positive can do attitude. Consistently respectful, concerned, and shows empathy. Uses scripted greeting. "Thank you for choosing ______________ this is (your name) how can I help you" Uses scripted closing at every interaction. "Is there anything else I can do for you" Over the phone and as patients leave the clinic.
Job Requirements Required:
High school diploma (or equivalent) required Satisfactory completion of a formal Medical Assistant program pursuant to the Division of Allied Health Professions or military training that is equivalent to an accredited Medical Assistant program (determination by Dignity Health Medical Foundation H.R. department in conjunction with the State Division of Allied Health Professions) required Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills required Medical terminology, familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding procedures and reference tools, and pharmacology appropriate to the Medical Assistant scope of practice required Current BLS certification required (must be certified through the American Heart Association)
Preferred:
Six (6) months of experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Assistant preferred Certification must be obtained through one of the private agencies approved by the
Medical Board of California:
