Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant to join our healthcare team on a part-time basis. As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support to healthcare professionals in a fast-paced clinical setting. Your primary role will be to assist with patient care, including taking vital signs, performing EKGs, preparing patients for exams, and documenting medical histories in an EHR system. You will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment, and assisting with administrative tasks as needed. This will be a temporary job (4-6 months) that could be extended to permanent based on circumstances. Responsibilities Provide administrative support to medical staff, including scheduling appointments and managing patient records. Assist with patient intake processes, including collecting vital signs and medical histories. Maintain accurate EHR systems and ensure compliance with medical terminology, coding standards such as ICD coding, and typing detailed phone notes Handling medication requests, including faxing and calling in refills. Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers to enhance patient service experience. Chart prep, assisting with referrals, calling consults prior to an appointment, and reviewing charts for the week ahead. Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, geriatrics, internal medicine, and medical-surgical practices during patient interactions. Participate in training for basic life support (BLS) certification as required. Experience Previous experience in a healthcare setting is mandatory; We are looking for at least two years of Medical Assistant experience. Knowledge of urgent care practices and emergency medicine is beneficial. Proficiency in handling outpatient services and understanding of cardiology practices will be advantageous. A solid foundation in medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and physiology knowledge is essential for success in this role. Qualifications for Medical Assistant High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited medical assistance certification program is required.
