Full Job Description Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a Medical Assistant in the OBGYN department located in West Covina. This will be full time temporary position ending 9/30/26
Pay Rate:
$25-$26 without a California CPT certificate (Certified Phlebotomy Technician) $26-$28 with a California CPT certificate (Certified Phlebotomy Technician)
Key Responsibilities:
Collect and document patient medical histories, vital signs, medications, allergies, and symptoms. Assist healthcare providers with examinations, treatments, and ordered procedures. Prepare exam rooms, stock supplies, maintain cleanliness, and complete opening/closing duties. Schedule appointments, manage patient charts, answer phone calls, and follow up on missed appointments and referrals. Verify insurance benefits, upload patient documentation, and conduct appointment/procedure reminder calls. Maintain clinic logs and ensure compliance with office policies and procedures. Advocate for patients by addressing concerns promptly while protecting patient privacy and confidentiality. Deliver excellent customer service to patients, families, and coworkers. Monitor patients for safety concerns and communicate observations to providers. Participate in required training, continuing education, and maintain competency in clinical practices.
Required Skills & Qualities:
Strong patient care and communication skills. Knowledge of medical office procedures and documentation. Ability to accurately obtain and record patient information and vital signs. Organizational and time-management skills. Customer service and patient advocacy. Understanding of HIPAA/privacy requirements. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required or 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant Completion of Medical Assistant Program required. Three to five years in a healthcare setting is preferred. Computer skills required. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required Mandarin/Cantonese preferred but not required Excellent customer service skills required. BLS required within 90 days of hire/transfer. Completion of annual Medical Assistant Competency training.
Pay:
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour
