Job Description

Overview Pine Ridge Family Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team in a temporary role. There may be an opportunity for full-time employment in the future, depending on the needs of the practice and the fit of the role. We're looking for someone who is dependable, welcoming, and comfortable working in a busy patient care setting. As a small practice, we value teamwork, clear communication, and a positive experience for every patient. We are a Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice. Our patients pay a membership fee for access to primary care, allowing our team to focus on ongoing relationships, personalized care, and helping patients stay ahead of their health concerns. We're looking for a Medical Assistant who enjoys getting to know patients and helping them feel welcome and supported at every visit. Responsibilities Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments in specialties such as dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, and outpatient clinics. Perform clinical tasks including taking vital signs, collecting specimens for lab testing (phlebotomy), administering medications under supervision, and supporting emergency medicine protocols. Manage patient intake processes, update and maintain accurate medical records using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Support medical documentation efforts by accurately recording patient histories, symptoms, medication lists, and ICD coding for billing purposes. Conduct basic physiology and anatomy assessments to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. Prepare examination rooms, sterilize equipment, and ensure compliance with infection control standards. Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, explaining procedures, and ensuring comfort throughout visits. Collaborate with hospital teams for inpatient experience or Level II trauma center protocols when applicable. Support medical office management tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and coordinating referrals. Qualifications Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar outpatient or hospital setting with knowledge of medical assisting procedures. Familiarity with dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, emergency medicine, geriatrics, or medical-surgical environments is highly desirable. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems and medical documentation practices. Strong understanding of medical terminology, pharmacology basics, ICD coding, anatomy, physiology, and medication administration protocols. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are a plus. Inpatient experience or Level II trauma center exposure enhances your candidacy. Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including pediatric (PICU), adult inpatient/outpatient care, and geriatric patients. Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments like urgent care clinics or hospital units while maintaining attention to detail. Join us if you're ready to make a meaningful impact through energetic teamwork and dedicated patient care!
