Elite Dermatology Physicians has expanded our state-of-the-art practice in New Canaan, CT, and we are looking for a dedicated, full-time Front Desk & Medical Assistant to join us. This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys both patient-facing administrative work and hands-on clinical care . This position is designed as a dual role, with responsibilities split between the front desk and Medical Assistant functions as needed throughout the day . You will not be performing both roles at the same time. Rather, you will work in one capacity at a time based on the needs of the practice and daily schedule. Dermatology experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate who has a strong work ethic, positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and a genuine interest in providing an exceptional patient experience. About the Role As a Front Desk & Medical Assistant , you will be an integral part of both the administrative and clinical sides of our practice. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Front Desk Responsibilities Greeting and checking patients in and out with a warm and professional demeanor. Answering phones and assisting patients with questions. Scheduling and coordinating patient appointments. Verifying patient demographics and insurance information. Collecting copays, balances, and other patient payments. Communicating clearly and professionally with patients in person and by phone. Managing multiple priorities while maintaining a positive patient experience. Assisting with administrative tasks and supporting the front desk team as needed. Medical Assistant Responsibilities Triaging patients and managing patient flow. Obtaining and recording detailed medical histories. Preparing examination rooms before patient visits. Assisting the physician and providers with patient visits. Collecting and handling lab specimens as appropriate. Documenting accurate and thorough clinical information. Supporting clinical procedures and maintaining an organized clinical environment. Ensuring a seamless and positive patient experience. Collaborating with the clinical team to provide excellent patient care.
Important:
This is a dual-role position. You will transition between front desk and Medical Assistant responsibilities based on the needs of the practice and your assigned schedule. You will be expected to be comfortable and capable in both areas.
What We're Looking For Experience:
At least 2 years of experience in a medical setting. Dermatology experience is a plus.
Education:
High School Diploma required; post-high-school education is preferred.
Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Customer Service:
A genuine commitment to providing a welcoming, professional, and positive patient experience.
Clinical Skills:
Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred, with a willingness to learn and develop dermatology-specific skills.
Technology:
Comfortable learning and using EMR and other computer systems.

Education and Experience Basic knowledge of general dermatology and dermatologic treatments is a plus, or willingness to study and learn if no prior dermatology experience. High School Diploma required; post-high-school education preferred. Two or more years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in a medical setting preferred. Four or more years of experience working in a professional setting preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA compliance. Experience using EMR tools and willingness to learn new technology. Front desk, medical reception, scheduling, insurance verification, or other medical administrative experience is strongly preferred. This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position. Your exact start and end times may fluctuate based on our providers' schedules, patient volume, and the needs of the practice. Candidates should be available to work within the following general ranges:
Monday:
8:30 AM-5:15
PM Tuesday:
7:30 AM-6:15
PM Wednesday:
8:30 AM-5:15
PM Thursday:
8:30 AM-6:15
PM Friday:
6:30 AM-3:00 PM You should be comfortable with varying start and end times within these ranges. Your specific schedule will be communicated in advance and may change based on provider schedules and practice needs. A 30-minute unpaid meal break is provided each workday. Schedule Flexibility:
This is a full-time Monday-Friday position, and exact start and end times may fluctuate based on provider schedules and the needs of the practice. Candidates must be available to work within the following general ranges: Monday 8:30 AM-5:15 PM, Tuesday 7:30 AM-6:15 PM, Wednesday 8:30 AM-5:15 PM, Thursday 8:30 AM-6:15 PM, and Friday 6:30 AM-3:00 PM.
