Job Description
Join our Vida Medical Centers' Clinical team, now with 1 position available at the Miramar location. Company with great benefits including paid time-off, holidays and bonus. Minimum of 1 yea r experience in this field is required for this position. The position of Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist is responsible for assisting and supporting the Primary Care Practitioners and Specialists of Vida Medical Centers in the delivery of high quality, comprehensive healthcare services to our members. The Medical Assistant performs clinical duties under direct physician supervision in addition to administrative tasks involved in the registration, examination, treatment and overall management of patients. Job duties include, but are not limited to: Perform pre-visit planning 48 hours prior to patient's appointment depending on the visit type (new patient, follow up, post-discharge, etc.) to ensure an efficient, comprehensive, and high-quality experience. Inspect and ensure that all examination rooms are clean, organized and that any instrument needed for a particular visit is available and sterilized for the PCP or Specialist. Continuously monitor patient flow, wait times, and schedules to optimize patient comfort and office efficiency. Guide patients in and out of the appropriate examination/procedure rooms, waiting area, front desk, restrooms, etc. Interview patient upon arrival to verify demographic information, record medical history, and confirm purpose of visit. Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests, taking blood pressure, weight, temperature, and recording vital signs in patient's chart. Perform medication reconciliation including over-the-counter medications, PCP and specialist prescriptions, and verify allergies. Document and communicate patient needs to the PCP, specialist and/or other clinical personnel. Alert the PCP of any abnormalities or changes in patient condition. Perform non-critical medical procedures as instructed such as EKGs, spirometry, ABI, etc. Collect phlebotomy and other lab specimens. Prepare and administer medications and injections, perform wound care, change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, among other first aid procedures. Review treatment plan and recommendations that the PCP has logged into the visit notes and ensure that the patient has a clear understanding of all instructions prior to leaving the office and the importance of compliance with all recommended treatment and medications. Collaborate with PCP to ensure compliance with Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) and Stars quality measures. Communicate with pharmacy regarding medication delivery status, prescriptions, refills, authorizations, etc. Maintain supplies and equipment inventory, track expiration dates, stock and sterilize instruments, practice OSHA safety standards. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards and company organizational policies. Regularly monitor and answer phone calls, faxes, EMR messages, and emails in a timely manner. Ensure strict confidentiality of all health records and member information, adhering to relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA guidelines. Comply with Vida Medical Centers on-call afterhours service rotation requirements. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. This position requires AHCA Level 2 background screening.
