Our growing ophthalmology practice in Cumming, GA is looking for a motivated and personable Jr. Medical Assistant to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone with some previous back-office medical experience who is interested in learning more about ophthalmology and developing their clinical skills. We are willing to train the right candidate on ophthalmology-specific procedures and provide hands-on experience in a busy medical office. This position may also be a good fit for a recent college graduate with a degree in Biology, Health Sciences, or a related field who is taking a gap year before applying to PA-C programs, medical school, or another healthcare program. Job Responsibilities As a Jr. Medical Assistant, you will help with daily clinical and patient-care activities, including: Rooming patients and preparing them for examinations. Taking and documenting patient vital signs. Performing basic vision testing and ophthalmic measurements. Measuring eye pressure using appropriate equipment after training. Assisting with eye drops and other ophthalmology-related procedures. Preparing examination rooms and keeping the clinical area clean and organized. Assisting ophthalmologists and other clinical staff during patient visits. Updating and maintaining accurate patient records. Providing patients with clear, friendly instructions. Supporting front- and back-office operations as needed. Maintaining patient confidentiality and following office policies and procedures. Helping provide a positive patient experience throughout the visit. Ophthalmology-specific training will be provided. Requirements & Qualifications Previous medical office, clinical, or back-office experience preferred. Strong communication and customer service skills. Professional, friendly, and patient-focused attitude. Comfortable working directly with patients. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow clinical instructions. Reliable, punctual, and dependable. Willingness to learn new clinical procedures and ophthalmic terminology. Basic computer and documentation skills. High school diploma or equivalent required.
