Job Description

Experienced Medical Assistant ChiroMed Plus, LLC - Crawfordsville, Indiana Full-Time | Monday-Friday ChiroMed Plus is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our busy, high-volume healthcare practice. This is a cross-trained position combining clinical Medical Assistant responsibilities with insurance, prior authorization, and front-office duties. We are looking for an experienced, dependable individual who is organized, works well under pressure, and is comfortable handling both clinical and administrative responsibilities.
Schedule Monday-Thursday:
8:45 AM-6:30
PM Friday:
9:00 AM-1:30
PM Lunch:
One-hour lunch Monday-Thursday Applicants must be able to reliably work the entire posted schedule. Medical Assistant Responsibilities Room patients and manage patient flow Perform patient intake and obtain medical histories Obtain and document vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, height, and weight Perform and document range-of-motion measurements as trained and directed Review and update medications and allergies Prepare patients and examination rooms for providers Assist providers with examinations and office-based procedures Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR Provide clinical and administrative support as needed Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked clinical areas Insurance Verification & Prior Authorizations Previous insurance verification and prior authorization experience is required. The successful candidate must be comfortable independently managing the authorization process, including: Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and coverage requirements Determine whether services require prior authorization Obtain prior authorizations for injections, office-based procedures, durable medical equipment (DME), diagnostic imaging, and other ordered services Navigate commercial insurance, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid payer portals Submit required clinical documentation and medical records Communicate with insurance companies regarding authorization requirements Track pending authorizations and follow them through completion Respond to requests for additional clinical information Accurately document authorization numbers, approved services, units/visits, effective dates, and expiration dates Communicate authorization status and coverage requirements to providers, staff, and patients as appropriate Front Office & Administrative Duties Because this is a cross-trained position, responsibilities will also include: Check patients in and out Answer telephone calls Schedule new and established patients Collect copays, coinsurance, deductibles, and patient balances Maintain accurate demographic and insurance information Assist with referrals and medical records Scan and upload documents into the EMR Communicate professionally with patients, insurance companies, pharmacies, and other healthcare offices Assist in other areas of the practice as assigned Required Qualifications Previous Medical Assistant experience Previous insurance verification experience Previous hands-on prior authorization experience Experience with EMR/EHR systems Experience with insurance websites and payer portals Proficiency with Microsoft Word and general computer applications Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Excellent attention to detail Ability to work efficiently in an extremely busy, fast-paced, and sometimes stressful environment Ability and willingness to be cross-trained and perform assigned clinical and administrative responsibilities Dependable attendance and punctuality Reliable transportation Ability to work the entire posted schedule To Apply Please submit an updated resume that clearly identifies your Medical Assistant, insurance verification, and prior authorization experience .
