QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required for all positions (may be allowed to sign a GED agreement to obtain within 6 months).
REQUIRED
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, Current Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification through a recognized organization (e.g., NHA)
EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
N/A PREFERRED
1 year's working experience in a clinical or healthcare setting
OTHER REQUIREMENTS OR LICENSURE
BLS provider status at hire or obtained within 6 months of hire Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients and the public Basic keyboarding and computer skills. Experience navigating electronic medical records (EMR) strongly preferred
JOB DESCRIPTION

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Usual working space is a well-ventilated area. Requires standing, walking, turning, bending, stooping, and lifting. Clear speech to communicate effectively with customers (e.g. patients, families, and other team members). Fine and gross motor skills. Environment may be stressful at times, therefore ability to work under stressful conditions is necessary. Also subject to bloodborne pathogens at all times in patient care. May have occasional exposure to radiation during radiology procedures and to dangerous chemicals (cleaning and disinfecting agents).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and documenting chief complaints Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures Perform basic laboratory tests, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider and within scope of practice Perform EKGs and other diagnostic tests as required Clean and sterilize medical instruments and maintain exam rooms Schedule patient appointments and manage calendars Verify patient information, insurance, and obtain necessary authorizations Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the EHR system Handle phone calls, patient inquiries, and follow-up communication Assist with billing and coding processes as needed Provide compassionate, patient-centered care and education Crosstrain and provide coverage in staffing, in the absence of regularly scheduled staff, and when additional assistance is needed and/or determined necessary, by provider practice leadership. Ensure proper labeling, handling, and transport of lab specimens and perform basic waived testing as permitted. Maintains required certifications and pursues continuing education relevant to the role.
