Medical Assistant

Overview Private concierge neurology/psychiatry practice seeks a 1099 medical assistant. Physician owner needs support for clinical administrative side of the practice. The position involves being the public-facing side of the practice and requires someone who is kind, efficient, articulate, and who has a strong medical vocabulary. Knowledge of neurology or psychiatry is helpful; knowledge of internal medicine is required. Ideal hours would be M, Tu, Th, Fri, 1-4pm, but owner is open to other arrangements. Duties Answer the practice phone and managing voicemails. This involves describing the practice to potential patients and eventually learning to screen patients for acceptance for a consultation at the practice Entering lab orders into Quest and Nordx systems on behalf of the physician Ordering imaging on behalf of the physician (to be signed by the physician) Doing prior authorizations for medications and imaging; the practice is out of network for insurance so this is a minor part of the job Support emergency medicine scenarios by assisting in urgent care settings or Level I/II trauma centers with vital signs monitoring and initial assessments. Potential for expanded hours and roles depending on individual's interests; for example, managing the practice's social media feed, helping to design/build a new website, creating patient handouts, etc. Experience prior work in neurology, psychiatry, geriatrics, and/or internal medicine environments are a plus prior experience with phone etiquette and coordination of care with other medical practices is a plus

Pay:

$22.00 per hour
