Medical Assistant Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of provider. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical record. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. 1. Prepares exam rooms between each patient. 2. Escort patients from the waiting room to the exam room. 3. Open an EMR note in Allscripts. 4. Records the reason for the visit, vitals, weight, current medications, etc. in EMR. 5. Assist the provider during the examination and procedures when/if needed. 6. Reviews instructions for medications and diet with patients. 7. Provides patient education. 8. Maintain an efficient flow of patients. 9. Communicate frequently with the front office regarding patient flow. 10. Answer questions or transfer calls accordingly and instruct patients on prep for procedures. 11. Helps manage the sample closet, discount cards/coupons and dispose of any expired meds/supplies. 12. Provide prescription assistance knowledge for patients. 13. Call patients, referring doctors' offices, PCP offices, other facilities as needed. 14. Keep track of exam room supply inventory and inform manager of anything that needs to be ordered. 16. Maintain HIPPA security/confidentiality of medical information. 17. Chart prep for upcoming patient appointments. 28. Other duties as assigned.

Reliability to maintain attendance policy. 4. Verbal and written communication skills with patients, doctors and staff. 5. Professional personal presentation to promote favorable facility image. 6. Excellent customer service skills. 7. Initiative to make decisions and solve problems. 8. Stress tolerance and ability to meet deadlines. 9. Cooperative work attitude as a team member. Works well with other coworkers, management, patients, and providers.
Education and Experience:
1.
REQUIRED
a. High school graduate or GED certification b. One year experience working with patients in either a physician's office or hospital 2.
PREFFERED
a. Completed certification program for MA, LPN, or NA b. Healthcare experience as well as knowledge of medical terminology c. Knowledge or computers, keyboard skills, relevant software applications
