Job Description
Corewell Health is offering a $3,000 sign-on bonus for this opportunity! Sign-On Bonus for External applicants or current CHW MA Apprentice Students only About the Unit The Kentwood location serves a large and diverse patient population and supports a wide range of roles dedicated to delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care. The care team consists of 12 Medical Assistants, 1 LPN, 2 ambulatory registered nurses, 13 providers (including physicians and advanced practice providers), 5 Patient Service Representatives, 2 behavioral health professionals, a community health worker and a pharmacist. The unit partners with local refugee programs and routinely supports non-English-speaking patients. Onsite resources include a Vietnamese interpreter as well as phone and iPad devices to facilitate language translation services. As a large practice, the unit offers opportunities for professional growth and development across all roles. Both the onsite manager and supervisor have clinical backgrounds. Daily responsibilities include rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, administering vaccines and medications, completing in-basket work, answering phones, and performing point-of-care testing. Newly hired individuals will complete an onsite training period and be paired with a Senior Medical Assistant for mentorship and support. Being a large practice, there is room for growth and development within each role. Both the on-site manager and supervisor come from clinical backgrounds. Day to day tasks include rooming patients, obtaining vitals, vaccine and medication administration, in basket work, answering phones, and point of care testing. The person hired into this role will go through an onsite training period where they will be buddied with one of the Senior MAs. Hours of work are open to change based on provider assigned but here's an example: M onday 9 am to 7 pm, Tuesday 6:30 am to 5 pm, Wednesday 7:30 am to 6 pm, Thursday 7:30 am to 6 pm, Friday 6:30 am to 5 pm. Scope of work As a Medical Assistant with Corewell Health, you'll be a member of our clinical support team and work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of the best possible care. You'll be a vital part of our team, making a real difference in the lives of our patients. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent Required Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills training OR a minimum of one (1) year of experience working specifically in the role of a Medical Assistant, LPN, Paramedic or EMT performing direct patient care and clinical support functions consistent with MA scope of practice Required 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting Preferred AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 90 Days One of the following Required within 120 Days AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA) NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA How Corewell Health cares for you Comprehensive benefits package to meet your financial, health, and work/life balance goals.
