Responsibilities Take and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates. Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort throughout their visit. Collect patient history and perform intake assessments to facilitate accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring precise documentation of medical histories, progress notes, and treatment plans. Perform phlebotomy and medication administration under supervision to support diagnostic testing and patient care. Support medical office management through scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and coordinating referrals or follow-up care. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and ensuring accurate medical documentation. Support patient education on medication use, lifestyle modifications, and post-treatment instructions to promote health literacy. Skills Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and medical assisting techniques. Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems for documentation and data management. Ability to perform phlebotomy accurately and efficiently while maintaining patient comfort. Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including geriatrics and internal medicine patients. Basic life support (BLS) certification to respond effectively in emergency situations. Familiarity with medical office management tasks such as appointment scheduling, billing support, and record keeping. Knowledge of ICD coding for accurate diagnosis documentation and billing processes. Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced settings like urgent care or hospital environments.
