Monday-Friday, 7:00 PM-3:30 AM | Full-Time | On-Site

$10,000 Job Description Seeking a skilled Pathologists' Assistant to support surgical pathology operations in a high-volume clinical laboratory environment. This position is responsible for performing gross examinations and dissections of surgical pathology specimens, preparing tissue for histologic processing, and ensuring accurate specimen identification and documentation. The Pathologists' Assistant will work closely with pathologists while maintaining quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities

Perform routine and complex gross examinations of surgical pathology specimens.

Describe gross anatomic features, including lesions, markings, sutures, measurements, weights, volumes, and abnormal findings.

Dissect surgical specimens and prepare tissue for histologic processing.

Ensure accurate specimen accessioning, labeling, patient identification, and specimen integrity.

Gross high-complexity specimens under appropriate direct or indirect supervision based on training and experience.

Escalate unusual or highly complex specimens to a pathologist or senior Pathologists' Assistant when appropriate.

Communicate directly with pathologists regarding gross dissection and specimen descriptions.

Perform preparation of non-gynecological specimens, including FNA specimens, after appropriate training.

Complete required documentation and associated paperwork accurately.

May oversee and provide training to Grossing Technicians.

Identify and troubleshoot issues that could affect specimen quality, testing, or reporting.

Follow established quality control, quality assurance, and safety procedures.

Maintain compliance with applicable CLIA, CAP, federal, state, and local regulations.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications / Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.

Must meet applicable CLIA requirements for non-pathologists performing gross tissue examinations.

Current state licensure, if applicable.

Graduate of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant program preferred.

1+ year of surgical grossing experience preferred.

Experience handling routine and complex surgical pathology specimens.

Strong knowledge of gross anatomy, surgical pathology procedures, specimen handling, and histologic preparation.

Ability to recognize and appropriately escalate unusual or complex specimens.

Strong attention to detail, organization, documentation, and communication skills.

Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
