Full Job Description Description:
Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of the provider. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, administering medications as directed by provider, and assisting with procedures Functions of the Position (not an exhaustive list): Schedule appointments, register patients per registration protocol, collect pertinent billing information along with co-pays/deductibles, direct walk-in patients and emergencies per established policies and procedures. Answer all incoming calls and route them to the appropriate staff Escort patients to examine rooms and prepare them for the provider Interview patients to obtain medical information, vital signs, and assist provider in exam room Obtain and prepare a variety of specimens for laboratory analysis: schedules and administers, ordered laboratory tests, recognizes critical results and calls these results to providers attention
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
Education High school graduate or equivalent Enroll and complete approved Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program Must attain Medical Assistant certification within one year of being hired into the apprenticeship program Skills Ability to comprehend and follow instructions With appropriate supervision, ability to evaluate and assess the need for medical services Maintain strictest confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations Exercise independent judgment Ability to work with individuals and families in a clinical setting to resolve health problems Perform skilled patient care tasks, such as: taking vital signs, administering injections, assisting with sterile procedures, and performing the tasks as appropriate to training and directed by the provider Ability to perform in emergency situations
Physical Demands:
Requires full range of body motion, and twisting on a daily basis Repetitive twisting and pressure involving hand and finger mobility Lifting/carry up to 20 lbs Push up to 250 lbs Must be able to work under physically and emotionally stressed conditions Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing
