Job Description

Description:
The ORA maintains a clean, healthful environment for patients and personnel in the surgical department. Assists in efficient turnover of operating rooms between cases. Assists in the transport of patients to and from the surgical department. Order supplies as necessary to keep levels correct. Functions of the Position (not an exhaustive list): 1. Manages and maintains the cleanliness around the operating rooms where surgeries take place 2. Performs cleaning services in the surgical department, to include sweeping & mopping of surgical suites after each use within the stated expected time frame 3. Handles and cleans all equipment required for surgery. Ensuring all tools and parts are present, clean and in working order for the procedure 4. Assists with patient positioning in the operating room under direction of the nursing surgical team 5. Assists in the "set-up" of equipment for a surgical procedure 6. Maintain a steady level of productivity 7. Assist with transport of patients as needed 8. Stocking and restocking room supplies as needed 9. Performs daily checks / monitoring and documentation of eye wash stations, blanket and fluid warmers etc.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
A high school diploma or GED equivalent Prior experience in a hospital setting preferred Housekeeping experience preferred BLS within first six months of hire
SKILLS:
Knowledge of working around a sterile field without causing contamination
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Standing and walking most of the day Carrying and lifting up to 50 lbs. Pulling/pushing greater than 100 lbs.
