Lead Trainor Medical Assistant The Lead Trainer Medical Assistant is responsible for training new medical assistant team members, medical assistant externs, and medical assistants-in training. If there are no new hires to train, this position will act as a float medical assistant supporting the team and coordinators as directed. This role serves as the subject matter expert and collaborates with the Medical Assistant Leadership to improve workflows and ensure adherence to clinic policy and procedure.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Organize and lead newhire training for Medical Assistants following the MA training schedule and checklist. Assess competency of newhire MAs across all required skillsets and provide additional coaching or learning support as needed for new hires to achieve mastery. Provide practical training, feedback, and competency validation for MAsinTraining following program curriculum to ensure readiness for independent practice. Track and document progress of newhire MAs and MAsinTraining to ensure timely completion of training programs. Develop, maintain, and update training materials, workflows, competency assessments, and educational resources to ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, and clinical standards. Coordinate the onboarding experience for Medical Assistant externs, including scheduling, placement with designated preceptors, and monitoring progress to support a successful clinical learning environment. Collaborate with MA Coordinators and clinic leadership on change initiatives and other team projects requiring training support. Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to MA team and foster an environment of continuous improvement. Promote effective communication and collaboration by serving as a liaison between patients, providers, leadership, trainees, and multidisciplinary care teams. Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives by supporting performance measures, workflow optimization, process improvements, and regulatory compliance activities. Model professionalism, accountability, teamwork, adaptability, and appropriate professional boundaries while supporting Medical Assistant standards of practice. Maintain a safe and compliant care environment through adherence to infection prevention practices, vaccine management requirements, regulatory standards, and organizational policies and procedures. Support patient education, care coordination, system navigation, resource linkage, and followup activities to promote continuity of care. Provide patientcentered care by building rapport, assessing readiness for change, supporting wellness goals, and identifying barriers to care. Provide Medical Assistant float support across clinical programs, service lines, and clinic locations as needed, including but not limited to, patient intake, medication and immunization administration, diagnostic testing, specimen collection and processing, and documentation in the electronic medical record.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program required. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required. Obtain CLIA Office Laboratory Assistant License within 30 days of hire required. Current Medical Assistant at HOPES, with at least 1 year of service. Demonstrated proficiency with computer systems and software used in a clinical environment preferred. 2 years' experience as a Medical Assistant preferred. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred. Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)/Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.
