Job Description

On-Site Full Time position
Hours:
Monday-Thursday 7:30am-5:30pm Pay Rate - $21.50 per hour - Must have certification!!
Main Function:
Support providers (physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants) in provision of patient care; includes recording vital signs, discussing chief health concerns, assists with procedures and documentation, consents patient with discussion of pre and post OP instructions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Room patients; obtain vital signs, record chief complaints, verify/update medications and allergies in EMR system, obtain patient urine samples, obtain controlled medication last dose history.
  • Obtain patient consent/answer patient questions regarding opiate agreement.
  • Obtain patient health information as needed.
  • Prep rooms for office procedures (trigger point injections, Botox injections, stimulator lead removals, joint injections etc.).
  • Notify patients and schedule ordered pill counts.
  • Checkout patients after appointment.
  • Schedule follow-up visits and injection appointments as needed.
  • Perform pill counts as requested by medical provider.
  • Provide educational materials for interventional pain procedures.
  • Obtaining prior authorizations with insurance carriers and WC for ordered procedures/imaging.
  • Obtaining medication (oral and injectable) prior authorizations from insurance carriers and WC.
  • Assist with obtaining WC pars from WC carriers.
  • Assist with patient check-out process as needed.
  • Assist medical providers with treatment modalities as indicated.
  • Obtain anticoagulation clearances for upcoming procedures and notify patients of anticoagulant hold instructions as ordered by medical provider.
  • Monitor and respond to inquiries for prescription renewal in coordination with medical providers.
  • Run ISTOP reports for all patient appointments and prescription requests.
  • Maintain exam room equipment and supplies. Maintain aseptic environment.
  • Maintain UDS supplies and store samples for daily collection.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant training program and 2-5 years medical office experience.
  • Experience with clinical protocols preferred.
  • EMR Experience, Preferably Medent.
  • Computer skills, especially Microsoft Office, browsing Internet.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously.
  • Willingness to work as a team player to meet common goals of the department.
  • Willingness to assist in the continuous quality improvement process.
  • Patient empathy and compassion.
  • Ability to travel to multiple sites.
