Bilingual Medical Assistant -
English/Spanish Location:
Hempstead, NY Schedule:
Full-Time Pay:
$19-$23 per hour Suffolk Primary Health is seeking an experienced and dependable Bilingual Medical Assistant for our Hempstead location. Candidates must be fluent in English and Spanish . The Medical Assistant will support providers across primary care and specialty services, assist with clinical procedures, maintain accurate documentation, and help ensure an efficient and positive patient experience.

8:00 AM-3:00 PM Responsibilities Welcome patients and prepare them for examinations. Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, medications, allergies, and reasons for visits. Prepare examination rooms, medical supplies, equipment, forms, and specimens. Assist providers during examinations and clinical procedures. Perform EKGs, urinalysis, glucose testing, pregnancy testing, rapid testing, specimen collection, injections, and other approved services. Complete required patient screenings and immediately report abnormal or urgent findings to the provider. Accurately document patient information, tests, procedures, and communications in the electronic health record. Assist with medication, laboratory, imaging, referral, prior-authorization, and follow-up workflows. Communicate clearly with English- and Spanish-speaking patients. Clean and disinfect examination rooms and equipment between patients. Monitor clinical and laboratory supplies and report low inventory. Follow HIPAA, OSHA, infection-control, Article 28, and organizational requirements. Provide coverage across primary care, specialty, laboratory, and other clinical areas as needed. Deliver professional, respectful, and patient-centered service. Qualifications Fluency in English and Spanish is required . High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent training and experience. Experience with patient intake, vital signs, infection control, specimen handling, point-of-care testing, and clinical documentation. Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn electronic health record systems. Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills. Ability to work efficiently in a busy, team-based medical practice. BLS certification or the ability to obtain it within the required timeframe. Preferred Qualifications At least one year of outpatient Medical Assistant experience. CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA certification. Experience using eClinicalWorks . Primary care, specialty, pediatric, or Article 28 experience. Experience with EKGs, immunizations, audiometry, ophthalmic testing, or point-of-care testing.
Compensation:
$19-$23 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Pay:
$19.00 - $23.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
