Job Description

The Senior Medical Assistants work under the direction of the physician and RN takes vital signs, assists with data collection, provides direct care, and assists with tasks as directed. This position coordinates laboratory and radiology appointments, referrals and directs patients to the proper services with all needed requisitions. Maintains patient charts and logs and provides secretarial support as well as assisting with registration and billing.
Responsibilities:
Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to patients. Provides care to patients as instructed in accordance with established procedures. Escorts patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measures vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse ox, temperature, and documents all information given into patient's chart. Obtains all related reports, labs, information and files in patients' medical records in accordance with established procedures. Ensure exam rooms are stocked with adequate medical supplies and cleaning in accordance with practice standards. Performs required checks (ex: refrigerator temperature, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.). Schedules and verifies appointments for patients including verification of insurance. Records all necessary patients, guarantor, and financial information as the patient is being registered. Gathers all proper forms and obtain necessary signatures. Maintain all logs, charts and appointments books. Checks expiration dates on all stored medications, vaccines, and supplies on a weekly basis. Updates laboratory and x-ray logs daily. May perform specialized procedures such as blood draws, EKGs. Maintains patients charts and logs and provides secretarial support as well as assisting with registration if needed. Travel to other locations may be required as needed. Performs other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience:
3-5 years' experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Licenses /
Certifications:
Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred.
Other:
Travel to other locations may be required as needed.
