Clearwave Mental Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Psychiatry Operations team. This role is ideal for an organized healthcare professional who is looking to build experience in behavioral health and take on greater responsibility within a growing healthcare organization. Medical Assistants work closely with psychiatry providers and serve as a key point of contact for patients between appointments. Each Medical Technician typically supports 3-4 providers and manages a variety of patient, administrative, pharmacy, insurance, and documentation needs. This is a hands-on role with significant exposure to psychiatry, healthcare operations, patient coordination, and provider support.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Support 3-4 psychiatry providers and manage their daily administrative workflows. Manage provider task lists, messages, and patient requests. Communicate with patients regarding appointments, prescription requests, paperwork, testing, and other administrative needs. Prepare and route prescription refill requests for provider review. Troubleshoot routine pharmacy and prescription-processing issues. Prepare provider letters, work/school notes, and other documentation for provider review. Assist with FMLA, disability, accommodation, and other patient forms. Coordinate medical records with pharmacies, providers, therapists, and outside healthcare organizations. Assist with ADHD and genetic-testing workflows. Prepare, submit, track, and follow up on prior authorizations and denied-authorization appeals. Run required Prescription Monitoring Program reports for upcoming psychiatry appointments. Relay provider-approved recommendations and follow-up instructions to patients. Identify and appropriately escalate clinical, medication, or safety concerns. Anticipate administrative barriers and work proactively to keep patient care moving. Support newly hired providers and provide coverage for team members when needed. Participate in workflow improvements, training, and implementation of updated procedures.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred. 1+ year of experience in healthcare, medical office, pharmacy, behavioral health, or patient support preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and provider workflows. Comfortable communicating directly with patients and healthcare professionals. Ability to learn new systems and technology quickly. Strong follow-through and ability to take ownership of assigned work. Ability to recognize when a concern requires escalation. Interest in developing a career in healthcare operations or behavioral health. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA and organizational policies.
