Position Overview The Medical Assistant will provide clinical and administrative support to dermatology providers and medical staff. This role is responsible for assisting with patient intake, documentation, examinations, procedures, specimen collection, patient education, and maintaining smooth daily office operations while following HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards. Responsibilities Assist dermatologists and clinical staff with daily patient care and office operations. Escort patients to exam rooms and document medications, vital signs, and visit concerns using EMR systems. Perform patient screenings including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature. Prepare exam rooms, patients, instruments, and equipment for dermatology visits and procedures. Assist providers with examinations, minor procedures, and treatments as needed. Collect blood and laboratory specimens as requested. Perform routine laboratory testing and accurately document results. Enter provider orders into EMR systems for review and approval. Obtain outside medical records, lab results, and diagnostic reports. Educate patients on treatment instructions, medications, skincare recommendations, and provider guidance. Clean and sterilize instruments and properly dispose of contaminated supplies. Maintain clean, stocked, and organized exam rooms. Monitor medical supplies and assist with inventory needs. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control policies. Support administrative duties including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and updating patient information. Communicate patient concerns and requests to appropriate providers and staff. Assist with follow-up appointments, referrals, and outside services. Provide professional, compassionate care while creating a positive patient experience. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required. Previous Medical Assistant experience required. Dermatology experience preferred. Experience with EMR/EHR systems required. Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills. Excellent attention to detail and professionalism. Ability to work independently while collaborating with a healthcare team. Strong customer service skills and professional phone etiquette.
