Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our care team. In this role, you'll work side by side with providers and support staff to keep patient care running smoothly — from rooming and vitals to chart prep, medication workflows, and follow-up. If you're organized, personable, and comfortable moving quickly in a clinical setting, we'd love to hear from you. Position Summary The Medical Assistant performs clinical and administrative duties in support of providers and patients, helping deliver efficient, coordinated care through patient rooming, pre-visit planning, medication and refill workflows, record retrieval, and follow-up. This role works closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing, and administrative staff, following standardized workflows and providing cross-coverage as needed. Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent required. Medical Assistant education, training, certification, or prior ambulatory clinical experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and ambulatory clinical workflows preferred. Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to stay organized and prioritize in a fast-paced clinical environment. Comfortable using electronic health records and other clinical systems, with the ability to learn new workflows and technology. Essential Functions Interviews patients, documents medical history, and obtains vital signs (weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, pain score). Rooms and prepares patients for exams, treatments, and procedures, assisting providers as needed. Completes medication reconciliation, verifies allergies and pharmacy information, and updates medical, surgical, and hospitalization history. Performs pre-visit planning and chart preparation, reviewing prior documentation, orders, medications, testing, imaging, and referrals. Obtains missing clinical information — imaging, labs, operative reports, hospital records, outside documentation — and escalates when needed. Prepares new-patient charts, gathering referral information, history, medications, and outside records for provider review. Manages clinical messages and patient communications in the EHR, routing information to the appropriate provider or team member. Processes medication refill requests, prior authorizations (e.g., CoverMyMeds), and prescription-monitoring workflows (e.g., I-STOP). Processes referrals and provider orders, including diagnostic testing, and coordinates scheduling and follow-up. Scans and routes clinical documentation, completes patient checkout, and schedules follow-up appointments. May perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, or other clinical support duties when trained and assigned. Maintains patient confidentiality throughout all clinical and administrative workflows. Additional Responsibilities Cleans, stocks, and prepares exam rooms and equipment according to infection-prevention and safety standards. Maintains clinical supply levels and performs required equipment quality-control checks. Prioritizes daily workload — urgent requests, messages, orders, and patient prep — and hands off unresolved work at shift end. Provides cross-coverage and supports other providers or departments as operational needs require. Answers phones, schedules appointments, and coordinates imaging, testing, and therapy services. Greets and checks in patients, and informs them of applicable financial obligations. Participates in department meetings, training, and quality initiatives, upholding professionalism and our patient-centered values. We're a collaborative, patient-first team that values dependability, flexibility, and genuine care for the people we serve. We invest in our staff through hands-on training, clear workflows, and a supportive care-team environment where your contributions are noticed.
