Role Overview:

Provides direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient setting, functioning as a key member of the healthcare team under the provider's guidance. Performs clinical duties such as patient preparation, vital signs, technical procedures, and documentation in the electronic medical record. Supports a safe, clean environment and assists with minor procedures, medication administration, specimen collection, and laboratory tasks.

Responsibilities include:

Obtaining patient information, vitals, and screening data using electronic tools. Preparing examination rooms and assisting patients with visits, ensuring safety and privacy. Supporting providers during procedures, performing EKGs, wound care, and minor surgical tasks within competency. Collecting lab specimens, performing phlebotomy, and managing related documentation. Handling clerical duties such as scheduling, filing reports, verifying insurance, and collecting payments. Facilitating patient communication, education, and follow-up as directed by providers. Maintaining sterilization and infection control protocols, inspecting equipment, and managing supplies. Participating in patient safety and quality improvement activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

High school diploma or GED required; completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred. Certification as a CMA or RMA from an approved agency is mandatory. Strong clinical skills, competency in procedures, excellent communication, and adherence to safety and infection control standards are essential.
