As a Medical Assistant in our Wexford Compensation & Pension (C&P) clinic, you will play a vital role in helping veterans and claimants navigate their medical evaluation process. This is not a high-volume, chaotic primary care clinic. Here, you will focus on high-quality patient intake, specialized diagnostic testing, and providing a respectful, compassionate experience for every individual who walks through our doors. What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)
Patient Advocacy:
Welcome, check in, and guide claimants through their evaluation journey with empathy and professionalism.
Clinical Intake:
Interview claimants to document accurate medical histories and capture vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight).
Diagnostic Testing:
Perform specialized screenings including EKGs, Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), vision tests, and audiometry screenings.
Phlebotomy:
Conduct blood draws for required diagnostic testing.
Provider Support:
Prepare detailed clinical charts and conduct Independent Medical Opinion (IMO) research to keep providers on schedule.
Clinic Excellence:
Keep exam rooms and equipment sanitized, organized, and fully stocked. Qualifications What We Are Looking For (Qualifications)
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Training:
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or relevant certification is highly preferred.
Experience:
Prior experience in an ambulatory clinic, specialist office, or C&P environment is preferred.
Skills:
Strong phlebotomy skills A MUST, experience running EKGs/PFTs are highly valued.
Tech Savvy:
Comfortable with Microsoft Office 365 and digital health scheduling/EMR systems.
Speed:
Ability to type at least 35 W.P.M.
Communication:
Clear verbal communication and precise medical documentation skills.
