Pediatric Medical Assistant - Functional Health Practice Journey Pediatrics - 5.0 Mount Pleasant, SC Job Details Part-time | Full-time $18 - $25 an hour 6 hours ago Benefits Paid training On-the-job training Employee discount Qualifications In-person patient registration CPR Certification Patient scheduling systems Patient rooming Vital signs HIPAA compliance Pre-examination patient preparation Intake BLS Certification HIPAA Healthcare privacy protection Medical assisting Managing patient records Certified Medical Assistant Patient scheduling via phone Office phone management Full Job Description About Journey Pediatrics Parents usually come to us after months or years of feeling that something is off with their child and not getting clear answers. Journey Pediatrics is a membership-based functional pediatric practice in Mount Pleasant. Many of our families are dealing with PANS/PANDAS, ADHD, gut health issues, or cases that don't fit a standard box. Our founder, Alice LoGuidice, is a pediatric nurse practitioner with 24 years of experience. She built Journey so families get longer visits, a provider who knows their child's whole story, and a team that answers when they call. We opened in 2026 and we're still a small team. The person in this role will shape how the office runs, and families will feel the difference. What you'll own: You'll be the person who keeps the practice running day to day. When a parent, Alice, or a teammate has an operational, patient, or technology question, they'll bring it to you first. Office operations. Open and close the office, keep it ready for patients each day, manage supplies and vendors, and run our daily, weekly, and monthly office checklists. Patient communications. Answer our phone and patient messaging inbox, and handle scheduling, reminders, rescheduling, and follow-ups. Families should always know what happens next. Clinical support. Room patients, take vitals and measurements, prepare charts, and support Alice before, during, and after visits. Office management. Keep the calendar full and running on time, keep the membership roster accurate, and flag problems before they grow. First-line technology support. Help the team with everyday questions in our EHR, messaging, and scheduling tools. Troubleshoot simple issues, and log anything larger for our systems lead. What this role doesn't own: designing or changing our technology systems and automations, and marketing. A dedicated systems and marketing lead handles those. You'll work closely with that person, and your feedback from the front desk will shape what gets built. A day in the life Morning Open the office. Check the exam rooms and office supplies before the first family arrives. Review the day's schedule. Make sure intake forms, payments, and records are complete for each visit, and follow up with any family who's missing something. Go through the phone, voicemail, and patient message inbox. Answer what you can, send clinical questions to Alice, and make sure nothing sits unanswered. Through the day (we try to have a maximum of 8 appointments per day, but usually have around 5) Greet families, room patients, and take vitals, height, and weight. Update the chart so Alice can focus on the visit. Reset and clean exam rooms between visits so the day stays on time. Check families out. Take payments, sell and hand out supplements, and book the next appointment before they leave. Coordinate lab kits and outside records, and track results through to Alice. Handle day-to-day questions from the team: a login that won't work, a message sent to the wrong place, a schedule conflict. Fix it, or log it and pass it on. End of day and ongoing Reconcile the day's payments against the schedule, confirm tomorrow's appointments, and close the office. Keep supplement and clinical supply inventory stocked. Receive shipments, and flag low stock and expiring products. Keep the membership roster in line with billing. Catch declined payments and follow up with families warmly, never in a way that feels like collections. Keep a simple weekly log of issues and near-misses. Review it with Alice and the systems lead so small problems get fixed. Look after vendor, facility, and compliance tasks: the cleaning service, HVAC filters, fire extinguisher checks, and renewal reminders. Protect patient privacy in everything you do. You'll follow HIPAA in every conversation, message, and chart. What you'll need 2+ years as a medical assistant, or equivalent clinical support experience (for example, as an LPN, CNA, or EMT, or on a clinical team). Pediatrics is a strong plus.
Hands-on rooming experience:
vitals, pediatric height and weight, chart prep, and intake.
Front-office experience:
phones, scheduling, check-in and check-out, and taking payments. Comfort learning new software and helping others use it. You don't need to be technical, but you do need to be the person who figures things out. Working knowledge of HIPAA and patient privacy. Current BLS/CPR certification, or willingness to get it within 30 days. Available to work in person in Mount Pleasant, Monday through Friday. Nice to have MA certification (CCMA, CMA, or RMA) Experience in a functional, integrative, or cash-pay or membership-based practice Experience with Cerbo or another EHR, and with Spruce or a similar patient messaging platform Phlebotomy experience Experience managing an office on your own: vendors, supplies, inventory, and facilities Familiarity with PANS/PANDAS, ADHD, or gut health, or having supported families dealing with them Who thrives here You're warm under pressure. Many of our parents are exhausted and worried. You can be kind and calm with them and still keep the day moving. You finish what you start. In a team this small, if you don't close the loop, nobody will. You follow up without being asked. You're comfortable being the go-to person. People will bring you everything. You sort out what you can handle, what goes to Alice, and what goes to the systems lead. You notice things. A family that's gone quiet, a supply running low, a process that keeps tripping people up. You spot these early and speak up. You know the limits of your role. You never give medical advice or interpret symptoms. You make sure the right question gets to Alice quickly. You're steady but flexible. You like routines and checklists, and you're fine with a practice that is still figuring some things out. You care about the mission. You want to help kids that the usual approach hasn't worked for, and you want each family to feel looked after. The details
