Duties Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, vital signs, and updating electronic health records (EHR) systems accurately. Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding throughout the process. Perform phlebotomy and medication administration under supervision, adhering to safety protocols and pharmacology guidelines. Support physicians during dermatology procedures, hospital medicine rounds, or urgent care treatments, including setting up equipment and maintaining sterile environments. Document medical information precisely, including ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures, ensuring compliance with medical documentation standards. Manage medical records efficiently within electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems, maintaining confidentiality and accuracy. Support medical office management through scheduling appointments, verifying insurance details, and coordinating patient follow-ups. Conduct basic life support (BLS) procedures when necessary and assist in emergency situations within hospital or trauma center settings. Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers by providing excellent patient service and addressing inquiries professionally. Requirements Certified Medical Assistant credential from an accredited program with current certification. Prior experience in dermatology, hospital medicine, or urgent care environments preferred; inpatient or Level I/II trauma center experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical terminology to support accurate patient care. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD coding is essential. Hands-on experience with phlebotomy, medication administration, vital signs collection, and medical documentation practices. Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically across diverse populations including geriatrics. Ability to work effectively in fast-paced settings such as emergency rooms or OR environments when needed. Knowledge of hospital protocols related to Level I trauma centers or inpatient care is advantageous. Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications related to dermatology or specialized medical assisting are a bonus.
