Duties Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, updating records, and verifying insurance information using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates to support accurate diagnoses. Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and explaining procedures clearly. Support physicians during examinations, including basic procedures like wound care, medication administration, and X-ray assistance when applicable. Manage medical documentation accurately, including ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures to ensure proper billing and recordkeeping. Perform basic laboratory tasks such as specimen collection or processing tests in outpatient or inpatient settings. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control protocols in diverse settings like emergency medicine, geriatrics, or surgical units. Requirements Proven experience working as a Medical Assistant in various healthcare environments such as hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or specialty departments like dermatology or internal medicine. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and basic life support (BLS) certification to provide safe patient care. Familiarity with EHR systems for documentation and patient management; experience with ICD coding is highly desirable. Ability to perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with medication administration, X-ray procedures, or other diagnostic tests in inpatient or outpatient settings. Strong communication skills to deliver exceptional patient service while supporting physicians with intake assessments and patient education. Experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers is a plus; familiarity with emergency medicine protocols enhances your effectiveness in urgent care environments. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently across multiple departments including PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), OR (Operating Room), or Geriatrics units. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications related to hospital medicine or specialized areas are advantageous.
