Job Title:
Medical AssistantJob Description The Medical Assistant plays a key role in supporting patient care by ensuring efficient clinic flow, accurate documentation, and a positive patient experience in an outpatient setting. This position combines clinical and administrative responsibilities, working closely with providers and care teams to deliver high-quality care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, patient-focused, and comfortable managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Responsibilities + Room patients and obtain vital signs, including blood pressure, weight, and BMI, as well as patient history and relevant medical information. + Document patient information accurately and in a timely manner in electronic medical record (EMR) systems. + Prepare patient charts prior to appointments, including organizing labs, imaging results, and medical records. + Collect and process specimens as needed, following clinic protocols. + Support pharmacy refills, referrals, lab orders, and tracking of results to ensure continuity of care. + Schedule patient appointments and coordinate follow-up care as directed by providers. + Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies to ensure a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment. + Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and care team members to support coordinated care. + Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times. + Travel to multiple clinic locations as needed to provide support across sites. + Provide coverage for other team members when needed to maintain smooth clinic operations. Essential Skills + Experience with medical assisting, patient care, or customer service in a healthcare setting. + Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems for documenting patient information. + Ability to perform vital signs and patient intake, including rooming patients, obtaining blood pressure, weight, BMI, and collecting patient history. + Strong understanding of back-office workflows such as referrals, labs, refills, and documentation. + Medical office experience, including scheduling and coordinating referrals. + High school diploma or equivalent. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and care teams. + Basic to intermediate computer skills, including use of EMR systems and scheduling tools. + Ability to accurately document and manage patient information with attention to detail. Additional Skills & Qualifications + 0-1 year of medical assistant or other hands-on healthcare experience. + Experience working in a medical office or outpatient clinic setting. + Bilingual language skills. + Familiarity with referrals, lab coordination, and patient scheduling processes. + Detail-oriented and highly organized approach to daily tasks. + Strong patient service mindset with a focus on creating a positive patient experience. + Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a busy clinical environment. + Professional, compassionate, and respectful demeanor with patients and colleagues. + Reliable and accountable work habits, including consistent follow-through on responsibilities. Work Environment This role is based in an outpatient clinic environment, with candidates floating between multiple clinic locations in the region. The schedule follows Monday-Friday standard clinic hours, providing a consistent weekday work pattern. The work involves direct patient interaction, use of EMR/EHR systems and scheduling tools, and coordination with providers and care teams. The setting is fast-paced and team-oriented, with a focus on maintaining clean and well-equipped exam rooms and supporting smooth clinic operations across locations. Professional clinical attire appropriate for a medical office is expected. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Layton, UT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
