How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:
The Certified Medical Assistant provides basic technical clinical services and clerical support in the delivery of quality patient care as directed by licensed staff, physician or mid-level practitioner. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients served. Complies with all federal, state, and local agency requirements and standards; and Carilion and CMG policies, procedures, and standards. The Medical Assistant - Certified ; Advice Line Support Triages incoming clinical calls, addresses patient question or route to appropriate dept. Advice Line Nurse Assesses caller needs, gathers clinical information, and determines appropriate care actions. Documents all encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record. Coordinates communication of physician orders to clinical staff and updates scheduling as needed. Collaborates with administrative and billing staff to ensure completion of orders and care plans. Serves as a resource for referrals, clinical review, and coordination of patient services. Addresses customer concerns, resolves issues, and escalates when necessary to leadership. Participates in performance improvement activities, including chart review and data collection. Uses critical thinking and multitasking skills to manage multiple calls and priorities simultaneously. Schedules appointments, processes referrals, and collects patient demographic and insurance information. Utilizes electronic systems to document care and support communication across teams. Serves as a patient advocate and provides psychosocial and cultural support. Applies knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care. Supports quality improvement and service enhancement initiatives. Provides basic technical clinical services and clerical support in the delivery of quality patient care as directed by licensed staff, physician or mid-level practitioner. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients served. Complies with all federal, state, and local agency requirements and standards; and Carilion and CMG policies, procedures, and standards. Provides basic clinical care and performs advanced technical skills for patients of all ages according to established standards and appropriately documents and reports patient observations to licensed staff. Collects patient assessment data to include height, weight, vital signs, chief complaint/symptoms, current medications, etc. for assessment by licensed staff. Documents patient information in the medical record in a timely manner to include update treatment procedures, medication refills, test results, patient concerns, etc. in compliance with applicable Carilion Clinic policies and procedures. Observes all safety precautions and standards Updates patient demographic information Performs other basic technical clinical and clerical duties relating to the operation of the practice as assigned and for which training has been provided.
What We Require:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:
None Licensure, Certification, and/or
Registration:
Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as the American Association of Medical Assistants, the American Medical Technologists, the National Association of Healthcare Professions, the American Registry of Medical Assistants, or the National Healthcare Association. May be hired on a provisional status once the applicant receives the letter confirming they have taken the certification exam and have a provisional passing score.

Effective communication and problem-solving skills. Effective computer skills required for automated systems, including electronic medical records. Compensation Range:
$18.70 - $26.18 Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
