Most medical assistant jobs are twenty-plus patients a day, a phone tree, and no time to finish anything. This is not that job. Mt. Baker Medical is a concierge primary care and longevity practice in Fairhaven. The panel is small on purpose. Visits run a full hour. You will know every patient by name, and you will have time to do the work properly instead of triaging it. We are hiring our first medical assistant. You would work directly alongside Dr. James Scribner, a board-certified ER physician and former ED Medical Director at St. Joseph, who built this practice after fifteen years in emergency medicine. This is a broad job. You will use the full scope of your MA-C credential, not a sliver of it, and you will own the coordination work that usually gets shortchanged in a bigger clinic.

WHAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY DO

Clinical:

Rooming, vitals, patient prep, chaperoning exams Venipuncture and capillary draws; specimen collection and lab processing Injections (IM, subcutaneous, intradermal) Medication administration per written order EKG and CLIA-waived in-office testing Establishing IV lines and assisting with infusions Autoclaving, sterile technique, biohazard and sharps handling Care coordination, a real half of the job and not an afterthought: Getting outside records in before each visit: calling clinics for fax numbers, sending releases, chasing what does not arrive, filing it where it belongs Verifying each patient's medication list and care team ahead of their appointment Refill requests, pharmacy and lab callbacks, prior authorization legwork Tracking down when and where a patient is scheduled with a specialist, and getting visits moved up when they need to be Front of house: Answering and routing messages and calls, scheduling appointments Keeping supplies stocked and reordered without being asked Keeping the office ready for patients, and offering them something to drink when they arrive

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Required:

Active Washington Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) credential, or interim certification with the exam scheduled Current BLS/CPR Comfortable drawing blood on a wide range of patients Genuinely organized. A large part of this job is making sure nothing falls through, and there is nobody downstream to catch it if it does. Comfortable with software. We run a modern EHR and are not a paper practice. Helpful, not required: Primary care, internal medicine, or ER background Experience in a small or independent practice Phlebotomy or lab experience beyond the basics Not a fit if you want a narrow, repetitive role with a clear handoff at every step. This job has a wide surface area and a lot of ownership. Some days are patient-facing start to finish; others are heads-down coordination work. Both matter here.

SCHEDULE, PAY AND TERMS

Monday through Friday, 9:00 to 5:00. No nights, no weekends, no call. $30-34 per hour depending on experience. Paid lunch and paid rest breaks. Washington paid sick leave accrues from day one. Dr. Scribner still works ER shifts, so some days he is in the clinic all day and some only part of the day. Your hours do not change either way. Mt. Baker Medical is an equal opportunity employer.
