Responsibilities Assist with patient intake, including collecting medical histories, vital signs, and documenting symptoms accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems. Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and maintaining a professional, compassionate demeanor. Perform clinical tasks such as procedure set up, wound care, cast removals, orthotic fitting, all of which can be taught on the job. Support physicians during procedures by handing instruments, managing supplies, and ensuring sterile techniques are maintained. Manage medical documentation with precision, including ICD coding, medical records management, and detailed note-taking to ensure accurate billing and compliance. AI scribes are available and used in the practice. Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers by answering questions, scheduling follow-ups, and coordinating referrals for specialized foot and ankle treatments. Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas while adhering to infection control protocols in a fast-paced outpatient environment. Skills Strong knowledge of dermatology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to foot and ankle health. Experience with hospital medicine, urgent care settings, outpatient clinics, or Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as EMR/EHR management tools for documentation and scheduling purposes. Skilled in patient service delivery with excellent communication skills to ensure clear explanations of procedures and compassionate care. Ability to perform clinical procedures including phlebotomy, medication administration, vital signs measurement, and basic life support certification. Familiarity with ICD coding for accurate diagnosis documentation; experience with medical records management is preferred. Knowledge of hospital experience or inpatient settings enhances ability to handle complex cases involving internal medicine or geriatrics populations.
