About the Role Are you an experienced Outpatient Facility Coder looking for an opportunity to use your coding expertise in a fast-paced healthcare environment? As a Coder II , you'll play an important role in ensuring hospital outpatient services are coded accurately and efficiently. You'll review clinical documentation and assign ICD-10-CM and
CPT/HCPCS
codes for Same Day Surgery (SDS) and Emergency Department (ED) encounters. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented coder who enjoys working with complex medical records, interpreting clinical documentation, and applying outpatient facility coding guidelines to support accurate billing and reimbursement. What You'll Do Review clinical documentation to accurately assign
ICD-10-CM
diagnosis and
CPT/HCPCS
procedure codes for outpatient facility services. Primarily code Same Day Surgery and Emergency Department encounters. Assign codes for a variety of surgical, diagnostic, and emergency department services based on the documentation provided. Apply current outpatient facility coding guidelines to ensure accurate and compliant coding. Validate APC (Ambulatory Payment Classification) assignments when applicable. Review and resolve coding-related claims scrubber edits to help support clean and accurate claims. Accurately abstract required clinical and patient information from medical records. Maintain a current understanding of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, APC, NCCI, and other applicable outpatient coding guidelines . Consistently meet established productivity and quality expectations, including a 95% or higher quality standard . Participate in training, team meetings, and client meetings as needed. Collaborate with client teams and other stakeholders to address coding questions and documentation issues. Stay current on coding updates, regulatory changes, and client-specific requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For We're looking for a knowledgeable and motivated coding professional who has hands-on experience with hospital outpatient facility coding , particularly Same Day Surgery and/or Emergency Department coding . Required Qualifications Active AHIMA or AAPC coding credential . At least 1 year of recent outpatient facility coding experience , with experience relevant to the patient type being hired for within the last 6 months. Experience coding Same Day Surgery and/or Emergency Department facility services . Strong working knowledge of ICD-10-CM and
CPT/HCPCS
coding . Ability to accurately interpret clinical documentation and apply appropriate coding guidelines. Ability to meet established productivity expectations while maintaining a 95% or greater quality level . Successful completion of applicable pre-employment coding assessments with a score of 80% or higher . You'll Stand Out If You Have Experience with hospital-based outpatient facility coding . Strong SDS/ambulatory surgery coding experience. Strong Emergency Department facility coding experience. Experience with APC validation and outpatient reimbursement . Knowledge of NCCI edits and claims scrubber processes . Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently. Savista is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $23.00 - $29.00 an hour. However, specific compensation for the role will vary within the above range based on many factors including but not limited to geographic location, candidate experience, applicable certifications, and skills.
