Job Description
Southdale Pediatric Associates, Ltd. is an independent physician group caring for children since 1948. Our mission is to enhance and maintain the welfare of our patients by providing high quality medical services and delivering our clinical expertise and outstanding customer service in a warm, welcoming environment. Many of our employees have been part of our family for 20+ years. We offer a stable, friendly, and challenging work environment. We currently seek a full-time (32+ hours/week) Coding Specialist (Medical Coder) for our business office team in Edina. The Coding Specialist is responsible for overseeing processing of clinic professional charges including updating of procedure and diagnosis codes, and coordinating reports. The Coding Specialist is an integral part of our business, and we hold strict standards in confidentiality, requiring strong professional office skills.
Coding Position Requirements:
Audit and correct clinic charges to ensure timely, accurate, and complete processing of clinic services Ensure Southdale Pediatrics coding practices follow acceptable CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding standards Efficiency in navigating our Cerner practice management system Participates in educational activities to keep current with CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes Ensures appropriate and pleasant communication with patients and families while ensuringHIPAA Coding Specialist Qualifications and Skills:
- Coding certification - Required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including organizing, tracking, and analyzing data, and the ability to work across multiple software systems.
- Minimum of two years of experience with accounting coding practices including one year of medical coding
- Preferred 3+ years of medical coding.
- Knowledge of coding policies and procedures, and reimbursement practices
- Knowledge of HIPAA
- Knowledge of health insurance processing and clinic operating policies
- High school diploma or
