Job Description

Medical Coding Specialist ICON is a global healthcare intelligence and clinical research organisation united by a mission to bring new medicines and treatments to patients faster. As a Medical Coding Specialist II at ICON, you will be responsible for advanced coding of medical data within clinical trials, ensuring accurate classification and consistency across studies.
What You Will Do:
Your role will involve delivering scientific operations work to a high standard, working closely with your team and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
Performing advanced medical coding of diagnoses, procedures, and medications using standard coding systems such as MedDRA and WHO Drug. Ensuring coding accuracy, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements across multiple clinical studies. Collaborating with clinical and data management teams to resolve complex coding discrepancies and queries. Providing expertise in the development and refinement of medical coding conventions and procedures. Staying updated on changes in medical coding standards and ensuring their implementation in clinical trial processes.
Your Profile:
You will bring relevant scientific operations experience, along with the following qualifications and skills.
Required qualifications and experience:
Bachelor's degree in life sciences, healthcare, or a related field. Proven experience in medical coding, preferably with MedDRA and WHO Drug, within a clinical research setting. Strong understanding of clinical trial processes and regulatory requirements for medical coding. Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy in medical data. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
