Job Description:
The Hospice Associate Medical Director will provide oversight of physician services by complementing attending physician care, acting as a medical resource to the interdisciplinary group, assuring continuity of hospice medical services, and assuring appropriate measures to control patient symptoms. The Medical director will serve as a hospice champion - promoting and representing the program to physicians, physician groups, discharge planners, other referral sources, community health organizations, and potential donors, as appropriate.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Active and unrestricted California Physician License (MD or DO). Current DEA Registration. Board Certification preferred. Hospice and Palliative Medicine experience strongly preferred. Experience participating in interdisciplinary care planning and physician certification of terminal illness, preferred Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively with an interdisciplinary hospice team. Experience with ACHC or regulatory survey processes preferred.

Must have a current valid driver's license, auto liability insurance and reliable transportation.
Essential Functions:
Must attend/participate in Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) meetings every other Thursday and patient care conferences as needed Must be accessible to sign orders throughout the day Review and certify patient eligibility for hospice services and recertifications. Provide medical direction and oversight for hospice clinical services. Must be able to answer calls/ messages from staff regarding patient care Must be able to work with clincal team in regards interpretation for eligibility for hospice recertification. Be available for physician consultation related to hospice patient care. Promote compassionate, patient-centered end-of-life care consistent with the hospice philosophy and mission.
