Job Description
Medical Director of Radiation Oncology UMC TLC² Foundation Cancer Center | Lubbock, Texas https://umcttuhsccancer.com/ A predictable weekday schedule. Protected planning time. Advanced technology. A dedicated clinical team. UMC Health System is recruiting a board-certified or board-eligible Radiation Oncologist to join an experienced, full-time physician in our ACR-accredited cancer program. The TLC² Foundation Cancer Center opened in April 2026 and serves patients across West Texas and Eastern New Mexico.

Weekday schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with physicians generally finishing earlier on Fridays.Protected planning time:
Each day is divided between clinic and simulations/treatment planning. Mondays are dedicated to on-treatment visits.Modern technology:
Two matched TrueBeam linear accelerators, HyperArc, Eclipse, IMRT, SBRT/SRS, DIBH, SGRT, and gynecologic HDR brachytherapy.Dedicated support:
Each physician is paired with a nurse and patient care assistant. The department also includes six radiation therapists and contracted dosimetry and physics support.Balanced volume:
Approximately 20 to 30 patients are treated daily across two linear accelerators, with up to five consults or 10 follow-ups per clinic day and a varied mix of stereotactic, later-stage, and skin cancer cases.Multidisciplinary care:
On-site medical oncology, weekly tumor boards, integrative medicine, navigation, palliative care, behavioral health, and other patient-support services. The current two-physician team alternates weekend call and holiday coverage. Two radiation therapists and one physicist are reserved to support the physician on call. Candidates may also pursue a Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center faculty appointment, teaching, clinical trials, scholarship, and program growth based on interest and experience.
