Middle River Regional Jail is currently accepting applications for Director of Medical. The Director of Medical position requires a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant license and is responsible for the supervision of staff and administrative duties in the medical department. The Director of Medical is responsible for providing medical care to inmates in the jail facility. Work is performed in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures. 1. Bachelor's degree in nursing at a minimum. 2. Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older. 3. Must be a citizen of the United States or legally employable in the United States. 4. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor for Medical Professionals. 5. Must possess a license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia or alternatively a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license 6. Minimum of three (3) years' experience preferably in a correctional facility of management/leadership. 7. A combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements may be substituted. 8. Must possess a Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP) certification or the ability to obtain it within the first twelve months (12) of employment.
