Responsibilities Manage the daily operations of the optical department, including staff supervision, inventory control, and customer engagement. Provide expert eyewear fittings, spectacle lens dispensing, and frame adjustments to ensure optimal comfort and vision correction for clients. Oversee optical laboratory processes, including lens cutting, edging, and quality assurance to deliver precise eyewear products. Maintain compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations and clinic confidentiality policies to protect patient information. Assist customers with retail sales, utilizing POS systems and cash register operations to process transactions efficiently. Ensure adherence to state healthcare regulations and clinical protocols related to ophthalmology services and medical records management. Train staff on medical terminology, medical billing procedures, aseptic techniques, and laboratory experience to uphold high standards of care. Requirements Proven experience in retail optometry or optical management with strong knowledge of optics, ophthalmology, and anatomy. Familiarity with EMR/EHR (Electronic Medical Records/Electronic Health Records) systems and medical coding practices. Knowledge of health regulation policies including HIPAA, medical confidentiality policies, and state healthcare regulations. Hands-on experience with spectacle lens dispensing, eyewear fittings, frame adjustments, and optical laboratory processes. Excellent customer service skills combined with retail math proficiency to maximize sales opportunities. Ability to manage inventory levels effectively while maintaining compliance with clinical confidentiality policies. Strong communication skills with an understanding of medical terminology related to pediatrics, senior care, and physiology.
