Cadillac, Michigan, United States Employees work in a hybrid mode Cadillac, Manistee - South Region, 2-3 days/month in office A Day in the Life Sr Specialist Lead - Medical Staff Services will serve as the key Medical Staff Office contact for local CMO, local medical staff leadership, committees, sections, and departments and provide MSO resources for continuity of medical staff organization activities. Participate in other hospital committees, as appropriate. Responsible for all local medical staff office related duties, including working closely with the system credentialing office as it relates to initial appointments and provider reappointments.
SPECIFIC DUTIES

Promotes personal and patient safety. Uses effective customer service/interpersonal skills at all times. Primary responsibility is the contact for local CMO, local medical staff leadership, committees, sections, and departments and provide MSO resources for continuity of medical staff organization activities. Participate in other hospital committees, as appropriate. Responsible for preparing and monitoring department budget and managing financial performance within established guidelines, working closely with the Manager of System Credentialing Services & Onboarding and System Director, Physician Services. Provides daily oversight for team members within medical staff office, seeking guidance from Manager, System Credentialing Services & Onboarding, when necessary. Collaborates with

System Credentialing Services & Onboarding Manager, administration, and other local MSOs to support standardization, synergy and efficiencies in system credentialing processes, privileging, and medical staff policies and procedures. Develops opportunities to strengthen relationships and promote leaner, streamlined medical staff practices. Key local facility contact to receive provider files from system credentials verification office for both initial appointments and reappointments, and leads through local committees and boards for approval. Ensures organizational adherence to medical staff accreditation/regulatory standards for Joint Commission, CMS, NCQA, and any other applicable designated regulatory bodies. Participate in the continuous readiness program. Monitor new and changing accreditation, licensing, and educational standards and work with appropriate departments to update/implement requirements as needed. Assists in the maintenance, periodic review, and any necessary updates/revisions to medical staff policies, procedures, and bylaws in conjunction with relevant departments and leadership. In addition, is the local CMO's main point of contact for facilitation and approval of system medical staff policies. Leads local provider onboarding in conjunction with system onboarding team for all new providers, including medical staff orientation, MHC systems access, EMR education, and all specialty-specific modules required across key stakeholders and departments involved. Coordinates with other local MSOs on providers joining multiple facilities. Facilitates orientation and educational opportunities for all new medical staff leaders (ie: committee chairs, department chairs, section chiefs, etc.) with regard to MMC and system organizational responsibilities. Monitors related leadership contracts and stipends. Responsible with Treasurer for the collection/maintenance of annual Medical Staff dues. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. What's Required Bachelor's degree preferred. Strong ability to work independently, mentor team members and/or medical staff leaders/members. Minimum five (5) years' experience performing medical staff and/or credentialing functions Certification as a Certified Professional Medical Staff Manager (CPMSM) and/or Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or eligibility and willingness to be certified. Exceptions may be made based on extensive other background. Demonstrated working knowledge of Joint Commission, NCQA, Medicare Conditions of Participation, HIPAA, and other regulatory standards as they relate to Medical Staff Services.
