Job Summary:
The Medical Records Clerk is a support staff position that, in addition to fulfilling the support staff function, performs a variety of clerical duties including processing, organizing, and transmitting patient medical records. The Medical Records Clerk ensures that all Release of Information activities are compliant with established agency policies, and state and federal guidelines and are completed in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication, data entry and administrative skills, be detail oriented and capable of maintaining a realistic balance among multiple priorities. Responsibilities include prepping, scanning, retrieving, and routing paper and/or electronic documents.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED equivalent required Basic Life Support/CPR certificate required Additional education in medical records preferred Two (2) years of recent experience in medical/primary office experience required 1 year of recent experience in medical records/health information management required Knowledge of medical terminology highly preferred Knowledge of
ICD-10-CM
coding preferred Experience with Electronic Medical Records systems preferred Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases, and systems "This is an outline of the primary responsibilities of this position.
