Job Description

Medical Records Specialist Private physician practice located in Moon Township, PA is looking for a Medical Records Specialist to join our team. Job Summary Accurately verify and process requests for charts to be pulled for patient care, quality review, and audits in a timely manner. Scan and index medical records to the appropriate patient chart. Release information to patients, healthcare facilities, and other entities following all laws and regulations including HIPAA. Essential Functions
  • Sort and prioritize incoming documents received via fax, Email, USPS, and patient portal.
  • Scan and upload health records, test and diagnostic results into EHR.
  • Pull records from internal EHR and hospital systems for patient care, quality review, and audits in a timely manner.
  • Thoroughly understand HIPAA, and safeguard and maintain confidentiality with all patient-related health information.
  • Responsible for coordinating the release of medical information to insurance companies, attorneys, and governmental agencies.
  • Responsible for processing records to support subpoenas and court orders.
  • Verify authorizations in accordance with internal policies and procedures, and state and federal laws.
  • Ensure that all requests for records are documented appropriately with date received.
  • Notify the requester when records are available.
  • Maintain a good working relationship within the department, the organization, and external vendors and contacts.
  • Provide excellent customer service, prioritizing patient satisfaction.
  • Answer main phone line, route calls within the organization, and timely respond to requests for records and information. Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Medical terminology training or experience is preferred.
  • Electronic Medical Records systems experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of health information management services is preferred. Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with an acute sense of detail.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Manage multiple responsibilities and self-prioritize work.
  • Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
Hours:
