GED Full Job Description Medical Records Specialist Department:
Business Office FLSA Classification:
Non-Exempt Reports to: Medical Records Supervisor The Medical Records Specialist is responsible for the locating, delivering, and filing of all patient records, which includes prioritizing requests for records to maximize provider efficiency, provides back up support in all department positions as needed.
Schedule:
.5 FTE | 20 hours/week.
Essential Functions:

Prepare copies of medical records for patients, agencies, and other third parties in a timely manner Locate records from outside organizations as requested Answer incoming calls and return voicemails from patients and outside organizations Review all paperwork sent from clinic locations for provider initials, items that need to be copied and sent, and verify accuracy and completion Scanning and indexing documents as needed into the EMR Dispose of paper records in accordance with privacy laws once scanned and indexed Fax documents as requested Deliver incoming faxes to appropriate departments in a timely manner Manage patient portal record requests and proxy access Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
This position will work in a typical office environment with a moderate noise level. This role will use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individual with disabilities to perform he physical requirements of this position. This position is primarily a sedentary role; however, this position need to file, communicate over the phone and in-person, and use standard office equipment. May be required to lift up to 10 pounds.
Travel:
Minimal local travel may be required for this position.

1+ years administration experience: Preferred EPIC knowledge
Pay Range:
$19 - $27
