Overview Health Information Technician job duties include but are not limited to knowledge of HIPAA compliance, receiving and fulfilling in-coming medical correspondence/form, calls, request from physicians offices, hospitals and patients, fulfilling incoming medical correspondences from the designated assigned work queues, promptly and efficiently. Reports directly to HIM Manager.

Qualifications Education:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience:

Previous experience in Medical Records preferred.

Additional Skills/Abilities:

Must have detailed knowledge of current HIPAA compliance rules and guidelines. Must be organized Ability to Multi-task Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records lay-out and terminal digit filing systems, Skill in English grammar adn spelling Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, physicians, co-workers, and the public. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to file and maintain patient records, files, reports and other correspondence. Upholds effective work habits including, but not limited to, regular attendance, teamwork, initiative, dependability and promptness.
