Job Description
Company DescriptionSupport patients receiving care within a military healthcare environment by maintaining accurate medical records and providing responsive administrative support to patients and clinical teams.
At International SOS Government Medical Services, you'll support healthcare programs that improve patient care and operational readiness across the U.S. and internationally. Job DescriptionAs a Medical Records Clerk, you'll maintain the accurate, timely patient information that clinicians rely on to coordinate care. Working onsite within a military healthcare environment, you'll manage paper and electronic records, assist patients and visitors, route clinical messages, and provide day-to-day administrative support.
Key ResponsibilitiesInitiate, maintain, retrieve, distribute, and process patient medical records for appropriate retention or retirement.
File patient-care documentation in the official medical record and locate or request missing treatment information.
Manage front-desk interactions by greeting patients and visitors, answering the main telephone line, directing calls, and taking messages.
Electronically route telephone consultation messages to primary care managers and clinic nurses using established systems and clinic guidelines.
Prepare medical-record statistics and reports and participate in record reviews supporting quality assurance activities.
Use computers, electronic health record systems, copiers, printers, fax machines, and telephone systems to support medical-record operations.
QualificationsRequirementsHigh school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency.
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification.6+ months of medical office scheduling experience.1+ year of experience handling patient records in a healthcare setting, including use of electronic health records or medical office software.
Experience performing related administrative duties in a medical clinic or medical office.
Familiarity with medical terminology and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements.
U.S. citizenship required due to contract requirements.
