Job Description
Company DescriptionSupport patients receiving care within a military healthcare environment by maintaining accurate medical records and providing responsive administrative support to patients and clinical teams.
At International SOS Government Medical Services, you'll support healthcare programs that improve patient care and operational readiness across the U.S. and internationally. Job DescriptionIn this role, you'll maintain the accurate, timely patient information that clinicians rely on to coordinate care. Working onsite within a military healthcare environment, you'll manage paper and electronic health records, assist patients and visitors, route clinical messages, and provide day-to-day administrative support.
Key ResponsibilitiesInitiate, maintain, retrieve, distribute, and process patient medical records for appropriate retention or retirement.
File patient-care documentation in the official medical record and locate or request missing treatment information.
Conduct the daily retrieval, delivery, and return of patient records.
Assist patients and visitors, answer the main telephone line, direct calls, and take messages as required.
Electronically route telephone consultation messages to primary care managers and clinic nurses using established systems, protocols, and clinic guidelines.
Prepare medical-record statistics and reports and participate in record reviews supporting quality assurance activities.
Use electronic health record systems, computers, copiers, printers, fax machines, and telephone systems to support medical-record operations.
QualificationsRequired QualificationsCurrent Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential.
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency.
At least six months of medical office scheduling experience.
At least one year of experience handling patient records in a healthcare setting, including experience with electronic health records or medical office software.
Experience performing scheduling, administrative, and medical-records duties in a medical clinic or medical office.
Working knowledge of medical terminology and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements.
U.S. citizenship.
