As a Health Information Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, privacy, and accessibility of patient health information. This position is responsible for handling routine correspondence, supporting records management, assisting with audits, and safeguarding protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and agency policies. What You'll Do Process routine information requests and coordinate special requests (e.g., court orders) Assist with administrative duties and data entry Support audits and compliance efforts across departments Request patient records from external entities Answer and route calls professionally, documenting correspondence accurately Participate in Quality Improvement initiatives May help train new staff based on experience and skill level Maintain confidentiality and follow policies and procedures related to PHI needed. What You'll Bring Graduate of an accredited high school or its equivalent Experience in HIM Department Preferred Meets pre-hire competency and reference requirements Computer skills including knowledge of MS Office products Good usage of the English language; reading, writing, and speaking required. Good to excellent spelling, grammar, and written/oral communication skills. Attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
