Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Health Information Assistant to support medical records operations for a healthcare organization in Bennington, Vermont. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who is organized, comfortable working with electronic record systems, and committed to maintaining accurate and confidential patient information. The person in this role will help manage health information processes, respond to documentation requests, and contribute to efficient records administration across the department.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and organize patient health records within EHR and EMR systems, ensuring documentation is current, complete, and accurately indexed.
- Process requests for medical information in accordance with privacy standards, internal procedures, and applicable release-of-information guidelines.
- Review records for completeness and follow up on missing, inconsistent, or incomplete documentation to support accurate file management.
- Enter, update, and verify data in health information systems with a strong focus on accuracy and timeliness.
- Support day-to-day HIM department activities by retrieving, filing, scanning, and tracking medical documentation as needed.
- Generate and interpret basic record-related reports or charts to help monitor documentation status and workflow activity.
- Assist with records-related administrative tasks, including handling document intake and supporting ongoing process updates within the department.
