Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify appointment details, and schedule appointments using dental practice management software. Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently, ensuring accurate data entry into Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks. Handle incoming calls with professionalism, providing information about services, appointment scheduling, and insurance inquiries while maintaining excellent phone etiquette. Collect and review patient documentation, including medical history forms, insurance information, and consent forms, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Assist with medical billing processes by coding procedures with CPT codes and
ICD-10/ICD-9
codes, submitting claims through health insurance portals like Athenahealth or Medicare systems. Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper filing of documents in accordance with health information management standards. Support clinical staff by managing care plans documentation review and coordinating patient flow within the clinic environment. Utilize Microsoft Office tools for reporting, correspondence, and record keeping; demonstrate strong computer skills for efficient office management. Qualifications Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or Dental Receptionist in a clinical setting; dental clinic experience is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with electronic health records management is essential. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person; bilingual abilities are a plus. Solid understanding of medical terminology, health insurance processes, medical billing, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and Medicare procedures. Demonstrated clerical experience including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and office organization within a healthcare environment. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure patient privacy at all times. Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail; strong organizational skills are necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with general computer skills required for daily administrative tasks.
